Sugar Beach Resort, Mauritius
The Sugar Beach Resort is a five star hotel on the western coast of Mauritius prominently placed on a 1km stretch of sandy beach. The architecture is reminiscent of a contemporary plantation colonial mansion that houses 258 rooms and suites whilst each of the 16 Mauritian Villas boast ten to twelve rooms.
The 12 hectares of lush tropical gardens are home to the luxury villas which can be found scattered amongst the green vegetation and just metres away from the Indian Ocean.
The standard rooms each have a private balcony or terrace equipped with sun loungers and a comfortable sofa with ottoman and are elegantly decorated. Satellite TV channels are provided via LCD flat screen TVs and each suite has independently controlled air-conditioning, telephone and a Wi-Fi internet connection (for a supplement).
The suites have a separate bedroom and sitting room with bar and each has a television, ocean views, private terrace and direct access to the beach. Guests may also enjoy time by the 2000m3 fresh water pool and there is a calmer pool for lounging in the sun.
The Aura Spa is staffed with experienced therapists that believe in a holistic experience that leaves the mind and soul relaxed and rejuvenated. An invigorating Mauritian massage can be enjoyed at the hands of a Hammam therapist and private duo treatment rooms are available for honeymoon couples. The Aura Spa also offers a range of regenerative beauty treatments in addition to a hair salon and fitness centre with ultra-modern equipment and different fitness programmes.
Four cosmopolitan restaurants at the Sugar Beach Resort reinterpret cuisine from around the world including Mediterranean, Mauritian and Asian cuisine. The talented chefs present cuisine suitable to all tastes including seafood, pizzas, salads, stir-fried dishes, continental breakfasts and buffets.
The activities program at the Sugar Beach Resort is impressive with personal trainers offering everything from martial arts, aerobic classes, Pilates, Yoga and step. Six floodlit tennis courts with equipment will keep the active entertained along with badminton, mini-football, volleyball, mountain biking, petanque and Frisbee. The sports bar also offers entertainment through video games, music TV and pool tables whilst it transforms itself into a night spot in the evenings with its very own resident DJ.
Free activities at Sugar Beach include kayaking, snorkelling, glass-bottom-boat trips, laser dinghies, wind surfing, fun boat and aqua gym classes in the hotel pool. Chargeable activities can also be arranged and popular options include daily scuba diving with PADI courses, deep sea fishing trips, catamaran cruises, parasailing and water skiing.
Guests of the Sugar Beach Resort have privileged access to the 18-hole Le Touessrok International Championship Golf Couse that was designed by champion Bernhard Langer. With views of the Indian Ocean and lush vegetation the golfing experience is sublime whilst challenging with three holes that call for shots over water to the Fairways. The Touessrok Golf Course has an academy, pro-shop, bar and grill.
