Bird Island Lodge, Seychelles

Leave the real world behind and escape to a private island resort where seclusion and privacy are guaranteed as the hotel residents and staff are the only humans present. Fringed by white coral beaches the verdant covered island is home to over 20 species of birds while the turquoise waters surrounding the island are home to sea turtles that nest upon the beach. 

Rooms are furnished with large king size beds, a spacious balcony overlooking the tropical landscape, comfortable lounge area and bathroom with solar heated shower. The rooms do not contain fridges, air conditioning or telephones to reduce energy usage while the chalets themselves are made from local materials using local labour.

The resort is extremely environmentally and socially responsible with conservation and ecological sustainability being two of the main focuses. The resort has its own farm where they grow fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices for the restaurant and any food waste is put into a composting system to further improve their farm, even the drinking water is ecologically harvested from rain water.

The restaurant is located in the centre of the resort, bordered by the bar and lounge providing convenience and comfort to the guests, and serves a range of freshly caught seafood, locally grown produce and authentic local cuisine with a view over the tropical gardens out towards the azure Indian Ocean.
