The area...
Club Med's La Plantation d'Albion Resort in Mauritius is on the west coast of Mauritius. If you can drag yourself away from the delights of the hotel then Port Louis is worth a visit - see the Pamplemousse Botanical Gardens with their hundred-year-old trees and rare plant species and stroll through the streets to the colourful local market. Club Med arranges half day trips either by boat or on land by bus.
There are excellent boat trips to explore the coast that can not be accessed on land to include snorkelling and lunch in some amazing locations or inland trips to the famous waterfalls, local villages and mountains.
What will the weather be like...
Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it never to feel too muggy. The summer months are from December to April (daytime temps in high 20’s), and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November (temps 24-27 Celsius), and is cooler and drier.
Rain occurs in all months but the wettest period is in their summer, December to April and tropical cyclones (usually Jan-Feb) could occasionally bring squally rain and winds. The South and South East of the island, being exposed to the southeast tradewinds receive almost twice as much rainfall as the north and north west (La Plantation d'Albion is on the North West coast) and especially from November to May is therefore a good location.
The best months to visit Mauritius are probably May to early December with May, September and October offering the best chance of little rain and good temperatures.
