There is little I can add to Gary's review on the Jumeirah Beach Hotel! About 50% of the rooms have now been refurbisheded – so it’s an ongoing project. (the older style are still cheaper). This is definitely a great hotel for children – the kids club is bright and airy, and the finishing touches in the dining area, such as the Goofy train with child size food carriages, make it especially easy for parents of young children and the Wild Wadi Water park is good for all the family.

Shaped like a giant wave on its own stretch of private beach the Jumeirah Beach Hotel is one of the original landmarks of the tourist playground of Dubai. It has always been a family friendly resort hotel and still is with a huge number of repeat guests especially families returning year after year. The views are spectacular and the building is cleverly designed so almost all rooms share the same lovely view although most do not have a balcony. This was from my room:
Chatting to some parents with young children they explained that rather than the glamour and glitz of some of the new resorts in Dubai they preferred the Jumeirah Beach Hotel as everything just ‘worked’.
The family pool is cleverly shaded with a gently shelving shallow end ( you can just see this in the photo above) and a small water slide, the children’s club had its own paddling pool complete with toys, climbing frame and play area, a club house run by qualified staff offering all sorts of organised activities, and its own sandy area. The nanny system for children younger than 4 years appeared to operate smoothly and is not so expensive to be prohibitive.
There is also a family adventure playground featuring raised walkways with a variety of play features including swings, slides, climbing structures, tunnels and rope walkways. And of course the pristine sandy beach!
For many families though the biggest attraction is the unlimited free access to the Wild Wadi Water Park which is accessible through the hotel.
There are signs that this is one of the older hotels especially as I am visiting on the same trip some of the newest ones but don’t let that put you off. In fact the old rooms are currently cheaper than the newly refurbished ones and it is the sort of hotel you wouldn’t plan to spend a huge amount of time in your room then they might be a good option for you. I have taken pictures of the old and new - both are the same size with the same view I just took the photos form different angles.
The Jumeirah Beach Hotel is a quality family friendly (some classify it as a 4 star plus) hotel that has a wealth of facitlies in a prime location and a quality yet relaxed atmosphere that is a winning combination for family holidays to Dubai.
