When on holiday with your family, the food can be very make or break. Toddlers and children can throw a tantrun at the smallest of things and food definitely falls into that list. However, we have found some superb swaps for their home favourites whilst on holiday.

Breakfast

Bagels

Breakfast can get quite boring at home with choclate cereals or toast and the same spread every day. We have discovered the most wonderful and eye catching breakfast treat in America. The Rainbow Bagel, created by Scott Rossillo, is bound to get your children wanting a taste. These psychedelic treats taste just like plain bagels; it’s the flavoured cream cheese toppings that fill them with flavour.

Lunch

Mexican Chicken Enchiladas

Swap chicken nuggets for the healthier and tastier option of chicken enchiladas in Mexico. Many restaurants offer delicious mild and miniature versions of the enchiladas for your little ones. A tasty tomato based wrap topped with cheese has definitely proved to be a hit amongst the younger travellers.

Dinner

Esp

Your children, as well as you, are probably sick of bangers and mash so being abroad gives you the ideal opportunity to mix it up. Our pick for dinner is the spectacular and theatrical Espetadas typically from Portugal. Chunks of meat or vegetables of your choice are skewered and presented to you hanging from a hook on a stand. The succulent meat hangs above a side of your choice such as chips, potatoes or rice to soak up the juices.

Dessert

gelato

Switch their favourite Twister ice lolly for some Italian Gelato for a healthier and most likely tastier option. This take on ice cream is made with milk rather than cream lowering the fat content and then flavoured with fruit and nut purees and other delicious flavourings. A cone of this will give you approximately 15 minutes of peace as you children make their way through the cold treat.
