If you have teenage kids, you will know that going on a holiday with them is quite a different experience than going with younger children. Teens are in a period of their lives where they want to feel more independent and explore more. So a simple beach holiday might not be enough for them. If you’d like to try something more adventurous than your usual beach holiday, then here are some suggestions for adventurous and unique holidays with teens:

  1. Safari Break

To nurture their sense of adventure, a Safari break in South Africa might be the magic formula to a fantastic family holiday. Take a direct flight to Johannesburg and enjoy the excitement of seeking the Big Five in the Madikwe Game Reserve, which is just a 4 hours’ drive away.  For an ‘active’ family safari experience, we recommend the Ant’s Nest exclusive Bush Home. You and your children can take part in bush walks and horse riding safari. With no dangerous game on this site, teens can still encounter giraffes, zebras and rhinos, to name a few. The best time to go for seeing lions, elephants, leopards and buffalos is the dry season, which starts in May and ends in September.
