The area...
The most southerly resort and the most recently developed on Lanzarote it is still relatively quiet.
Take a ferry from the little harbour to Fuerteventura only 20 minutes away, or other boat trips from here.
There is a nice promenade linking Princesa Yaiza to the original little fishing village, cafes and restaurants – a very pleasant walk mostly along the sea front.
As well as the main attraction being its beaches, Playa Blanca has a choice of restaurants and bars, there are some excellent fish restaurants here, and a selection of the usual tourist shops.
Playa Blanca does suit those who prefer a quieter resort but with enough facilities to satisfy.
Other things to do in Lanzarote include excursions to the National Park of Timanfaya and the volcanic Jameos del Agua volcanic tubes, cactus gardens or the unusual house of the famous local artist, Cesar Manrique.
There are also various theme parks including the Rancho Texas Park which has an Indian village, a nature park and animals including crocodiles, turtles, iguanas, armadillos, prairie-dogs and many birds of prey, a water park or perhaps the Whale and Dolphin Museum
Water sports are plentiful and include Diving, Snorkelling, Windsurfing, sailing, parascending and Jet and Water skiing.
What will the weather be like...
When it comes to sunshine, the Canary Islands are perfect with an eternal spring-summer climate. They’re a year-round destination; you can pretty much take your pick of when to go.
The winter months – December to March – are cooler but still paradise compared any other short haul destination. You can expect average daytime temperatures to hover in the low 20’s dropping to a mild 14 degrees on average overnight and with 6 hours sunshine per day through all these months. It does rain occasionally especially in December and January.
The summer months – April to October are deceptive as give how warm the winter is, they are surprisingly mild. Almost perfect with a daily average of 27 degrees dropping to a comfortable 20 at night, virtually no rainfall and 10 hours sunshine a day, any of the summer months are good. There is a chance of a few very hot days.
Playa Blanca is in the South of the Island and is more sheltered than the northern coast.
