Family Holiday Ideas in March

Posted By Jo MacGregor on 18 August 2013

Jetting off for a luxurious holiday in March can be a great way to mark the transition from winter to spring. Go away at the beginning of the month and by the time you get back flowers will be blooming and birds singing (with a little luck). If the Easter break falls early, you can also celebrate the end of term with your children by whisking them away for a fun-filled holiday of a lifetime.

Those with younger children can also make the most of March, as many resorts are still relatively quiet at this time of year, offering peace and calm for your baby or toddler. The ski slopes are also warming up, making it a great time to introduce youngsters to skiing without such cold fingers and toes.

March is also a good time to explore the Canary Islands. Located off the coast of North Africa, these Spanish islands are perfect for a warm, relaxed getaway, with temperatures in the early 20s on the centigrade scale. If you and your family are looking for something a little hotter, March temperatures in Dubaiare heading for the late 20s, giving you the ideal opportunity to spend lazy days by the beach.

Where to go

I love to get away with my family in March. After a long, cold winter there’s nothing better than feeling the sun on your face and warm sand between your toes. If the Easter holidays fall early, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to get the kids away at the end of term for two weeks of sun-kissed bliss.

When March comes around, it’s time to start thinking about exotic, eastern locations like Egyptand Dubai. With temperatures in Sharm El Sheikh reaching the mid-20s, there’s no better time to lie by the pool and feel all of life’s stresses melting away. For those looking for something a bit more adventurous, skiing conditions are excellent at this time of year in the Alps.
