Tips

Nobody wants to worry about leaving their house empty while away on holiday. By following these simple tips, you can have peace of mind during your break.

Make It Look Like Someone Is Home

Mow the lawn before you leave so it’s not a meadow by the time you return. Set some lights on a timer, giving the illusion that someone is around. Also, set your radio on a timer to create the sounds you would normally hear around the house.

Be Social Media Savvy

Never announce the exact dates of your departure and arrival on social media; sharing settings are not foolproof and with constant security changes it’s hard to know what you are sharing publicly and what’s being kept private. To be safe, don’t mention your trip until you’re back and then you can post all your lovely photos.

Unplug Items

Unplug all appliances, apart from those on a timer, to protect your house from a power surge or electrical fire. It’s important to remember small items such as toasters and kettles.

Trust A Neighbour

Give a neighbour or local friend a spare key and your holiday information in case of an emergency, that way they can ring you if anything goes wrong.

Saving Money

Make sure you have turned your heating and water off before you leave – saving you any additional expense. Also, keep any valuables and money locked away for safe keeping.
