Sardinia is a wonderful choice for your next family holiday. If you are interested to know what fun family activities you can do while holidaying on the beautiful island, other from the obvious sunbathing on the white beaches or the traditional water sports, then keep reading!

Cave Exploring

Grotte di Nettuno is an amazing cave system that is well worth exploring while on holiday in Sardinia with your children. Located near Alghero, in the north-west part of the island, the cave boasts beautifully lit stalactites and stalagmites. Partly submerged in water, the cave is only accessible by boat, making the experience even more exciting for the entire family!

Visit Aquariums

Sardinia has some of the best and largest aquariums in Italy. Take your kids on a trip to Laguna di Nora Aquarium in Pula or perhaps Cala Gonone on the east coast. They will learn about Sardinia’s flora and fauna while having fun! Book your tickets in advance and you can get a guided aquarium tour, followed by a snorkelling trip to a nearby beach.

Boat Trips To Neighbouring Islands

La Maddalena and Capera Islands are easily accessible by boat and offer a superb view of Sardinia’s rugged coastline. A tour of the beautiful island archipelago can be a great half-day distraction and the children will love the feeling of adventure and exploration! Rent your own boat or go on a guided tour.

Aqua Parks

You can’t go wrong with a trip to the waterpark – it’s fun for the whole family! Sardinia has 2 amazing water parks that adventurous kids will surely enjoy. If you’re staying on the southern part of the island, go to Blufan Waterpark in Pula. In the north, try Aquadream in Baia Sardinia. They both have an excellent range of pools, rides and slides to keep the little ones happy all day long, while you’re relaxing in the Lazy River!

Adventure Parks

Once you have had your fill of water-based activities, adventure parks can be a good alternative to spend the day with the kids. Head for the treetops to escape the heat. Sardinia’s adventure parks have courses to suit everyone’s capabilities, from first-time adventurers to expert climbers. Your kids can have fun on rope bridges, pirate nets and walkaways.

Horse Riding

Another fun activity for the whole family is horse and donkey riding through the beautiful scenery of Sardinia. Horse riding is very popular with the natives as the island has a long tradition of practising this sport. You’ll find many equestrian centres around for children of all ages and experience levels.

Island Exploring on The Little Green Train

For a relaxing family day out, we recommend going on a trip on The Little Green Train. You’ll get the chance to explore Sardinia’s rugged interior on one of the many routes available in the north and central parts of the island.

Rock Pooling

If you are on the shore then you won’t have to go too far to find some captivating rock pools to inspect. Turn it into a fun contest and see who spots the most species of plants and animals. Just be careful when handling animals.
